WoW Strict Guilds, And Grats To The Typhoon Struggle
First off congratulations to “Typhoon Struggle” (EU) Defias Brotherhood for being the first 10 man strict guild according to GuildOx to have obtained the Heroic: Fall of the Lich King achievement. 10 man guilds only use 10-man content and work under a much more stringent set of guidelines in order to enjoy the game in the way they choose to enjoy it. Were seeing a rise in popularity of these types of guilds lately. Not only in the sense of 10 man content strict guilds, but also as level 60 strict guilds, and possibly even some TBC strict guilds out there as well. If your not sure what a “Strict Guild” stick around while we cover them.
So as of recent we have been hearing more and more about “Strict Guilds”. There are different ideas to the “strict content guilds”, which are definitely adding to the different ways to experience WoW these days. There are “10 man strict” guilds, “Level 60″ Strict Guilds, and the opportunity for other types of strict guilds to evolve over time. So lets cover the two main ideas of “Strict Content Guilds” the 10 man strict, and the level strict guilds.
10 Man Strict Guilds
10 man strict guilds are the type of guild that chooses to only clear content using 10 man items. So in other words that really awesome 2 hander you picked up in a 25 man pug, won’t do you any good in these guilds when it comes raid night. You must only equip and use items that are dropped, crafted, or intended for 10 man content.
Guild Ox has actually began tracking 10-man strict guilds on their website, so you can go check out some of the 10 man guilds out there and see how they are doing. Guild Ox has a fairly liberal view on what justifies 10-man strict, but I believe they will make it more well defined over time. As of right now all badge loot is acceptable for 10-man strict guilds, up to 5 members of your guild can complete a 25 man raid a week, and 10 members of your guild can have 25 man achievements. Anything outside of this and Guild Ox will stop tracking you in the 10-man strict rankings. You need to be careful though because even your incoming recruits will be subject to this, and the achievements which they bring into the guild will count towards those stats.
Many Guilds are much stricter than this their-selves, to include the Typhoon Struggle who say that they completely avoid the grey area, and stick strictly to 10 man level items, and dungeons. This is a big gratz to them, and all of the other 10 man strict guilds out there who are following those principles. So if you think a 10 man guild, or 10 man strict raider is less talented than a 25 man raider take into account that these achievements are coming a great deal of time later than the 25 man, and non strict 10 man achievements. Most of the hardest content in the game is at the 10-man level even when you are able to equip 25 man level gear, imagine progressing the achievements without of all of your “best-in-slot” gear to help you out, and now you are forced to wear items with lower stats.
So don’t knock it until you try it, and the next time you see a 10-man strict guild on your server that is actually progressing through content consider giving them a big old salute as they add a whole other level of difficulty to their game play strategy. If you are interested on finding viable 10-man strict guilds you can check out the ranking and even check your own server here at Guild Ox.
Content Strict Guilds
Level strict guilds, 60 strict guilds, pre BC guilds, 70 level guilds, are all types of content strict guilds in World of Warcraft. These types of guilds are shooting for nostalgia, choosing to level an alt, and turn off their XP at a certain level in order to go back and clear content like it once was in either Vanilla WoW, or Burning Crusades. The idea is to relive the old content just like it was back in the day. Only there is a problem,… over time WoW has evolved in many ways to include the introduction of resilience, talent tree changes, new spells, amongst other things. The answer to this is that the talent trees, and spell changes are completely acceptable changes that the content strict guilds will have to live with. All in all they try to keep it as close as possible to the original content as it was intended to be played.
There are some things which these guilds wont tolerate however. If you are a leveling a Blood Elf Paladin right now and are thinking of joining a Horde Level 60 Strict guild you might as well go jump off a building. Blood Elfs or Paladins weren’t around in Vanilla for the Horde, so they are strictly forbidden in the majority of level 60 strict guilds. The same goes for Shamans on the Alliance side, its a pretty basic concept really.
If you are interested in learning more about these types of guilds I am certain you could quickly find a home inside this growing phenomenon in WoW. For now though you could check the Guild Ox site or run a quick search for level 60 strict guilds on google to find out more. We are also running a strict guild recruitment forum here on Horde Review if you are interested in checking it out to find your next content strict guild.
