Mage: Perfected Corpse Piles…….

Yes, Derfel here to bring you people a few fine nuggets of wisdom concerning one of our favorite class love/hate relationships. I am of course speaking of mages in general. Every class holds a strong love and hatred for these fine spewers of arcane blasts, fireballs, frostbolts, and mana strudels.

In PvP and Arenas, a frost mage can either be your best friend (2v2) or your worst nightmare (hiding in wintergrasp ready to gank you).

In raids, strong fire and arcane mages not only bring you free and cost effective food, but usually strong DPS and short life expectancy.

In your randoms, Arcane mages bring the burst and short life expectancy. Also, most likely to be AFK (yet somehow not long enough that they couldn’t click accept to the randoms invite, ironic?).

Regardless your love or hate pains for the mage, you still need us. In ICC the other night (yes, Derfel had to get WoW back again, i couldn’t resist) We needed a tank and a DPS. Well, I has Derfel (my 80 DK tank who is mostly ICC geared) and my mage, Nimune (who is about ICC 25 geared). Yet, i took Derfel, leaving my Nimm’s to collect dust and miss out on her frosties. And the whole time, I am in the Dreamwalker encounter, looking at the sore lack of good AoE ranged, and wishing the whole time i had brought my mage. I whispered my Raid Leader towards the end and she agreed, she wished that i had too brought my mage. The Boom-kin was doing well, but couldn’t handle more than one side of the two-sided 10-man encounter.

Then, last night i was in 10-man ToC, and hung out with those guys in their vent afterwards. They were educating me on Arenas (having never done one personally) and how Frost mages are the dominate class/spec combination. They say that there are others that play well, but no single class/spec combo to match that of a frost mage. This intrigued me, but i highly doubt anyone will find me on a 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5 team anytime soon.

And I mention all of this, for one, very simple reason. This game, the World of Warcraft is just that, it is a game. Remember, regardless what anyone tells you, no matter what you are doing, where you are doing it, whom you are with. If you are not having any fun, you need to find something else to do. Like me and ICC, i enjoyed the experience of seeing Dreamwalker, but we kept getting her to almost 11 Million of her 12 Million life. If i had taken my mage as opposed to my single target tank, and actually pushed for taking my mage, I probably could have made enough difference in the better geared character to have completed the encounter and given Blood Queen a try.

I am Dual Specced, so i am sure if i investigated further, i could learn to be one of those PITA frost mages in an epic arena team.

and when i group and raid, i am always looking to bring my desired class, so that i can actually enjoy the group and/or raid.

So i say this, unto you. Have fun. Always.
