ICC Plaguewing: Festergut Strat
On the 5th of January the new wing of Icecrown will be opening. The new wing will introduce 3 new bosses for players to encounter. Festergut, Rotface, and Professor Putricide will be waiting to stop our heroes from reaching Arthas. Today we are going to bring you a strat we found posted by Kolben on Stolensouls guild website, a guild from Icecrown server. Im not sure if Kolben is the creator of this strat or where it originates from. But this is the preliminary strat that includes the use of a second tank which seems to be the preferred strat around the WoW community.
This fight is all about staying spread out – clumping together for Gas Spores to recieve Innoculation -
and bursty tank damage every 3rd inhale. There is also a fairly tight enrage timer.Raid Environment
The room is filled with a gas that puts a DOT on the entire raid from standing in it (unavoidable).
Ranged players must stay spread out around 10 yards apart. Approximately every 20 seconds Festergut
will cast Vile Gas on a random ranged raid member.Vile gas will also hit anyone within 8 yards of it’s target. Vile gas does an additional ~2K shadow
damage per second for 6 seconds and disorients the affected player(s) for 6 seconds similar to conflag.Festergut should be tanked in the center of the room. There is essentially no movement for melee in this fight -
the ranged should spread out in a manner that allows them to remain 10 yards apart but close enough together to stack for Innoculation.Pungent Blight
Approximately ever ~30 seconds Festergut will inhale approximately 1/3 of the gas in the room.
Each inhale decreases the amount of gas in the room, reducing the amount of damage caused
by the raid-wide DOT from standing in it.It also increases Festergut’s damage and melee attack spead on the tank by roughly 30% each inhale.
Approximately 20 seconds after the third inhale (no gas left in the room) Festergut will exhale all of the gas back into the room.
This will instantly kill anyone without at least 3 stacks of Innoculation (which comes from gas spores)Tanks
The period of time between the 3rd inhale and the exhale will be extremely high tank damage. Two tanks are recommended. The main tank will need to use cooldowns like shield wall for the
first ~10 seconds and the offtank will need to taunt and use their shield wall for the second 10 seconds. After the exhale, the main tank can taunt him back and resume tanking as normal.
Gas Spores
The real mechanic of the fight is the Gas Spores. Approximately every ~30-35 seconds Festergut will
mark three people with gas spores. The icon for this looks exactly like the spores for Loatheb. One person with a spore should move onto the melee camp. The other two should go to the ranged,
one on the left side of the raid and one on the right. The entire raid should clump up tight on the person closest to them with a Gas Spore (one person goes to the melee).
When the Gas Spore explodes it does a small amount of damage, but more importantly it leaves a stack
of Innoculation on everyone within 8 yards. This is critical because Pungent Blight (when festergut exhales all the gas back into the room) will
one-shot anyone without approximately 3 stacks of Innoculation (75% damage reduction). Each stack of Innoculation you receive reduces damage from Pungent Blight by 25%. In other words
it should be completely avoidable.Once the spore explodes and you receive Innoculation, you should immediately spread back out to 10
yards apart because of Vile Gas and the DOT+Disorient that it leaves.Summary
1. Ranged spread out 10 yards apart
2. Run to the nearest person with a Gas Spores, spread back out after it explodes.
One person with a Gas Spore runs to the melee and flees after it explodes.
3. Survive the tank damage between 3rd inhale and the exhale ~20 seconds later
4. Win/Profit
